The 9th and final 'Cooling without Airconditioning' symposium was held in London on January 7th and 8th last. Hosted by the University of Nottingham in UCL University College London over two days, it was attended by over 100 delegates including engineers, architects clients and students.
This was the last of a worldwide series of symposia presenting Passive and Hybrid Downdraught Cooling in buildings that were held in Spain, Malta, China, Greece, Italy, India and China.
The key note speakers were Professor Tadj Oreszczyn from UCL, architect Professor Alan Short from the University of Cambridge, engineer Max Fordham of MFA and Dr. Malcolm Cook from Loughborough University.
Sessions were chaired by Professor Simos Yannas of the Architectural Association and Professor Derek Clements-Croome from the University of Reading.
Speakers from the PHDC group were Elizabeth Francis, MCA, Prof. Brian Ford and Dr. Rosa Schiano Phan, University of Nottingham, Joanna Spiteri Staines, AP Malta, Paul Thomas, DLC and Servando Alvarez AICIA Spain.
